Men and Pilates!

If you think Pilates is just for women, take a look at all the Professional Sportsmen that use Pilates to help take them to their physical peak.

Pilates is for wusses........or so Pat Cash (Wimbledon Champion) thought before he tried it to rehabilitate a back injury and found that not only can it be challenging it can be very useful as part of a training programme to help reduce injuries and achieve your physical best. So if you think Pilates is just for women, don't tell the New Zealand All Blacks, the Professional Footballers Association or the thousands of men worldwide who include Pilates as part of their fitness programme.  Or to Aussie rugby league clubs who have compulsory weekly Pilates classes to help prevent injuries.

Many professional sportsmen use Pilates as part of their injury recovery, fitness and wellbeing programmes. Premier League footballers, the England cricket team, the GB Olympic Rowing Team to name but a few are well versed in the benefits of doing Pilates.

Joseph Pilates himself was a boxer and self-defence instructor and he developed his method drawing from many different sports.  Pilates is an effective form of exercise because it develops your core strength and improves your posture and flexibility which is something that men can benefit from just as much as women.

The best news of all for men is that you don't have to be a professional sportsman, professional or otherwise, to enjoy the benefits of Pilates. So remember, real men should do Pilates! So why not join them today!
